Landing Platform vs Power BI: reporting with no data model
Power BI is a serious analysis tool, and it starts with getting your data into it. Landing starts with the data already there: the CRM, projects, timesheets, invoices, email and web analytics your team works in every day. Ask a question in plain English, get the chart, share a link that keeps itself up to date.

Landing suits you if
- You want answers from your business data without building a model first
- You want the reports and the work they describe in the same system
- You'd rather share a live link with a client than a login
Where the reporting project stalls.
The licence is the cheap part. Getting the data in is where the time goes.
A model before a chart
Every source has to be connected, cleaned and related before the first report is right. That is a data project, and someone has to own it.
The data lives elsewhere
Your deals, hours, invoices and campaigns sit in four other tools. Power BI reports on them, but you still pay for, and switch between, every one.
Refreshes on a schedule
Reports refresh a set number of times a day, and sharing one means a licence for the people who read it, or a capacity plan.
Landing Platform vs Power BI, line by line.
Power BI is built to analyse data from anywhere. Landing is built so the data is already in one place, and the reporting comes with it.
| Feature | Landing Platform | Power BI |
|---|---|---|
| Asking in plain English | Ask a question, get a chart. It picks the right data, shows the period and filters it used, and asks you to choose when a question is ambiguousGrowth | Copilot and Q&A features, depending on plan and capacity |
| Data you have to model first | None for Landing's own data: deals, hours, invoices, email, orders and tickets are already joined on one record | Power Query and a semantic model you build and maintain |
| Sources | Deals, leads, invoices, estimates, email sends, orders, tickets, bookings, timesheets, project budgets, capacity and web analytics, plus Google Ads, Facebook Ads, Microsoft 365 and the files and Excel sheets you addGrowth | A very wide range of connectors |
| Sharing with people outside | A link that refreshes itself hourly or daily. Readers need no login, and a visitor never runs a queryGrowth | Pro or Premium Per User licences for readers, or capacity |
| Your fiscal year | Set once, and "financial year to date" and quarters follow it everywhere | Built in your date table |
| Who sees what | Each data source sits behind its own permission, so invoices and pay stay with the people allowed to see themGrowth | Row-level security you define |
| Web analytics | Built in: funnels, cohorts and UTM trackingCore | Report on it from another tool |
| The CRM, projects and timesheets | Included. The work and the report on it live togetherCore | Not a product it offers |
| Profit per client | Every hour costed at the person's real rate against what the client paysGrowth | Only if you model it yourself |
| AI assistants | Claude and other agents sign in with your permissions and query the same dataGrowth | Copilot, depending on plan and capacity |

What it costs, side by side.
Power BI charges per reader, or for capacity, on top of the tools that hold the data. Landing charges for the people who work in it and includes the data and the dashboards.

Power BI, as it lists it

And still to buy separately: the CRM, the timesheets, the invoicing and the email tool the reports are about.

Switching is our job, not yours.
We move you over one tool a month, against success criteria we agree with you up front. You don't pay until we prove each one is ready.
We map your reports
Show us the Power BI reports people actually open, and the tools behind them. We agree which move, which retire, and what "ready" means for each, before you commit to anything.
We rebuild them on live data
We move your data as part of the switch, then rebuild your key reports as Studio dashboards. Because the CRM, timesheets, invoices and campaigns already live in Landing, most tiles need no connector at all. We check each one against the figure you trust today.
You sign it off
Billing starts only when we have shown it works against the criteria you set. Then we move the next tool, one a month.
But we already use Power BI.
Fair. Here are the questions teams ask us most when they're weighing it up.
Can Landing replace every Power BI report we have?
It replaces the reports about your own business: pipeline, revenue, hours, utilisation, budgets, campaigns, orders and tickets, because that data already lives in Landing. We agree up front which reports move, and prove each one against the figure you trust today before billing starts.
Do we need someone to build a data model?
No. The data in Landing is already joined: a deal knows its company, an hour knows its project and client, an invoice knows its estimate. You ask in plain English, and every tile shows the data, period and filters it used.
How do clients see a dashboard without a licence?
You share a link. It shows a snapshot that refreshes itself hourly or daily, so the reader needs no login and never runs a query against your data. Clients are guests, and guests are free.
What if a question can't be answered?
Landing says so, and why, rather than drawing a chart of something else. If a question could mean two things, it offers the two readings for you to pick.
